Metroplex Mayhem: 2023 Primetime Nationals
"The process leads to events like this," CEO and head coach Brian Crawford said ahead of the tournament. In a field with countless teams from across the nation spanning 4 days of competition, Ballers Nation's 8th grade boys and 10th grade boys and girls faced their biggest test yet to culminate a long Summer. "You're traveling to take on not just some of the best players in our region, but from multiple different states. This only makes them better mentally and physically going into their high school seasons and we're looking forward to growing their skills even further when Fall Ball rolls around," Crawford concluded.
10th grade boys head coach Ricky Wilson commented on his team's performance. "I'm proud of how of how the guys responded to the experience of playing at Nationals. Our goal set for the tourney was to make it to the Championship Bracket, and we did that. Going overall 2-2 on the weekend and finishing the season on a positive note."
Girls Director Heavunli Reese enjoyed the opportunity for her team to face the highs and lows Nationals bring. "I relish in the fact that we can only get better as a team and I can further improve as a coach with events like this. All we can simply ask for is to get better and I believe we did that above all else. Took great teams to the wire throughout the tournament and that shows me that these girls have truly grown. They embody the Process that we preach across all divisions."
On the middle school side, her coach Jeremy Tatum fought through one of the toughest pools in the division. "One thing I can say about this team is that they fought and battled with every team presented in front of them from start to finish. Even when things seemed bleak they stayed together and continued to play our brand of basketball."
