HS Girls finish 3rd in Frisco, 5 teams in Plano for Nationals
This past weekend saw 7 Ballers Nation teams travel north of the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex, with Court 23's Jr. National Showcase Tournament in Plano and PrimeTime's Heat Wave in Frisco being the organization's next test. In Plano, both Jr. Ballers, Middle School Boys as well as Middle School Girls teams faced competitive fields in both pool and bracket play. "We always want to put our teams in front of opponents that can push our players and help them prepare for whatever they face when playing for their respective schools. We have a saying that 'iron sharpens iron' and the way our teams improve is to be pushed to their limits both physically and in the mental game as well," said CEO Brian Crawford.
The Middle School Boys Black team would bounce back from an early loss on Sunday in bracket play with a three point win to finish the day over .500. Arguably the highlight of the weekend goes to the High School Girls, lead by Head Coach Heavunli Reese. The end of pool play would see the club finish 2-1, and their final game would also be a three point victory to earn third place in a field of eight teams. "The fruits of our labor are showing for these young ladies. They continue to show fight where other teams fold," said Coach Reese. "Whenever we are faced with adversity I can truly say that they are battle-tested and experienced enough to pull thru and stack up victories!"
